Frequently asked questions

What is the Schengen 90/180 rule?

You may stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period in the Schengen Area. The 180-day window is rolling — every single day it looks back exactly 180 days and counts how many of those you were present, including both the day of entry and the day of exit.

How do visa-free stay limits work outside Schengen?

Many countries let you stay visa-free for a limited number of days — per entry, within a rolling window, or per calendar year. Daybound tracks the rule of each country and warns you before you reach the limit, which is handy for visa runs.

How long can I be away without losing my residence permit?

It depends on the country and permit type: many are revoked after a continuous absence (often 6–12 months) or a cumulative one within a period. Daybound tracks your time abroad against the absence rule of your permit.

Why does the calculator show days per country?

Days spent in each country matter beyond Schengen — for tax residency (such as the 183-day rule) and residence requirements. The calculator adds up days per country for the current calendar year and a rolling 12 months.

Is the Daybound calculator free?

Yes. The web calculator is free and needs no sign-up. The Daybound Telegram app additionally detects your country by GPS and warns you before you exceed any limit.
